## 2 Mirtul 1493
Amelia showed up this morning to collect us for the bathhouse and to take some of Skoll's breakfast. Can't really blame her for that second one – it was as delicious as usual.
It ended up being me, Ezmerelda, Rictavio, Skoll, Amelia, Ireena, Selise, Nia, and Isabella going to the bathhouse. Isabella almost didn't go, but Daphne managed to convince her; Yesper didn't go because he has another not-date with Fala and Mani (not to mention that we needed someone to babysit), and Porter didn't go because he was busy finding employment and hating his newfound bodily functions.
The unfortunately-named Mother Tathlorn's House of Pleasure and Healing was staffed by the unfortunately-named gnome Cockaby. But Cockaby was nice enough, and he left us alone after showing us the baths.
There were nine of us, and three baths; Ireena, Selise, and Nia took one. Amelia insisted on using the "men's" bath with Rictavio and Skoll – funny, but it definitely didn't help Rictavio's opinion of her any. That left the last one for me, Ezmerelda, and Isabella.
Isabella spent the whole time looking mortified, but it could be that her face was just red because of the heat of the water or something.
Whatever the case, I had a good time – it was nice seeing Ezmerelda relax, and I was glad to get Isabella out of the house. Plus, we got free chocolate. I don't even mind that we got showered with flower petals at one point, and it was kind of fun sneaking out of the place with Ezmerelda and Isabella to avoid being asked about massages.
The rest of the day was quiet. But then the evening came around, and we received some surprise visitors: Ismark, along with Freek, Myrtle, and Christopher.
Ismark was only a little thrown off to hear about Ireena, Selise, and Nia – he seemed mostly amused that he had been out of the loop – and it wasn't long before he was complaining about his own (lack of a) love life. Skoll suggested setting him up with Escher, but Ismark wasn't all that interested.
Ismark told us that he and New Markovia have been doing well. He does seem to be struggling a little with being a father, if Freek and Myrtle's lack of respect is anything to go by; but that might just be because they're literal children. Plus, they seemed to ease up after I convinced Ismark to buy Freek a toy sword and Myrtle a hermit crab (I assured her that hermit crabs have plenty of diseases when she asked).
Anyway, speaking of parenthood: Christopher called Skoll and Nia "mom" and "dad." Also, he can talk now, thanks to a traveling wizard or something. So that's cool.
When Nia objected to being called "mom," Christopher argued that she and Skoll are to thank for his existing self. I didn't point out that I was the one who pulled that damn gem out of the Baba Lysaga's floorboards in the first place, mostly because I didn't want to be called "mom" myself.
But Christopher's been doing well for himself and has apparently been getting into fishing and painting. He's also still the sheriff of New Markovia. I figure it can't be too demanding of a job, considering he was able to just up and leave for a while.
Rudolph has taken to Christopher. Beyond that, he seems to have been inspired by him; he asked if he should be referring to me and Ezmerelda as his moms.
I think that I managed to keep my expression under control. Even though I'm on board with the idea of being a mother someday – and maybe even someday soon – the word made me feel a bit strange. Thankfully, Rudolph said that he doesn't mind either way, so I told him to stick with our names for now.
After that, Rudolph presented me and Ezmerelda with a list of formal requests. He wants to:
- Learn how to carve wooden trinkets (doable)
- Learn how to wield an axe (also doable; I might have to reinforce his arms first, though)
- Go fishing (easy; I feel kind of bad that I never took him before)
- Go clothes shopping (also easy; he wants a tailored suit and a "big coat" in particular)
- Obtain a special mask (like Ezmerelda's; she agreed to help him make one)
- Learn how to talk (most difficult thing on the list, but I'm sure I can pay some wizard to take care of it)
Rudolph told me and Ezmerelda that he broadly wants to be like us – namely, he wants to "look cool" and have "impressive weapons." I thought it was sweet; so did Ezmerelda.
It was a nice day, overall. It was kind of Amelia to rent out the bathhouse for us, and I was happy to catch up with Ismark, Christopher, and the kids.
I'm excited to start crossing items off Rudolph's list. That said, it may have to wait until after tomorrow, since I planned on taking Daphne to Ivana's in the morning. I'm not sure how long it will take for Ivana to work her magic – assuming she _can_ help, that is. But I'm hopeful.
