If the Spider tried and failed to complete the spell, then it may need the complete power of the other gods. We're sure of the old names of the old gods; we're less sure of how they inhabit Elysium now. But I'll write down our theories and some notes regardless. 1) **The Ox**, god of persistence and memory. Probably now an entity known as the Gaunt Silhouette. If you find a card that's blank on one side with a strangely shaped silhouette on the other, then he's found you. There's also an incomplete communion circle in room 90 of the inn – if you want to complete the circle and commune with it, you might need to borrow the skull mounted in Cicero's bar. When you feel a hand on your shoulder, don't turn around. 2) **The Vermin**, god of sickness and health. Not so sure about this one. Could be the elder brain from the Phrenological Pharmacy, which is a place you should avoid unless completely necessary. Could have also been the mind flayer known Dr. Brains, who is now very dead. 3) **The Dreamer**, god of dreams and guidance. The most likely candidate is the conductor of the Valerian Express, the train that runs through Elysium from the ethereal. I plan to leave some tickets for the train with Cicero and Deannach; the train might be the easiest way to the bottom of the lake, unless you feel like going for the worst swim in your life. The Dreamer has come to hate dreams and all associated with them – if you're fey or fey-adjacent, he'll probably be able to tell. Also, he's made of sand. 4) **The Twins**, gods of knowledge and responsibility. Likely the manager and the collector, two entities occupying the same body. They run Sneerian's Bookstore. If the entity that you're speaking with is hostile, then you'll need to get on the opposite side of them to talk to the other. 5) **The Wolf**, god of angels and aid. Almost certainly the merchant known as Mr. Wolf. He offered us three wishes, though he warned that the third time would go poorly; he also said that he can only grant wishes within the bounds of what Elysium allows (in other words, there's no wishing your way out). We avoided making any wishes of Mr. Wolf. Unless you're desperate, you might want to follow suit. 6) **The Rose**, god of passion and unity. No fucking clue. There's Rosa, who runs the printing press. She definitely seems passionate, and commanding a massive army of skeletons is a kind of unity, I guess. Doesn't seem like a god, though. 7) **The Dragon**, god of cooperation and generosity. Don't know. There's a dragon on the Valerian Express named Algernon; he's friends with the conductor, but he didn't strike me as the remnants of a god. He also didn't seem very cooperative or generous. Alternatively could be Sackville Grabbins, the guy who lives in bags of holding. 8) **The Widow**, god of death and light. There's an entity living in a boarded up room in the crooked house; she's called the Painted Lady. She was alert but only loosely responsive. I wouldn't bother her unless you know that you need to. 9) **The Hunter**, god of protection and ambition. Might've been the Lurker, the (now dead) hostile entity which occupied the lake. Could also be the entity that occupies the infinite staircase. 10) **The Spider**, god of life and darkness. Watch carefully for spiders and webs; he'll likely be trying to conceal them. 11) **The Crab**, god of water and nothingness. If not the Lurker, then probably the Fisher King, the entity which occupied the Gloomrot River. It killed one of our own; we had to kill it to recover her body. 12) **The Cat**, god of kindness and play. Most likely the Cat Lord. Feed and follow the strays and they might lead you to it. It will probably appear to you in the shape of someone you trust, but with cat features. It wasn't hostile. It was helpful to us, but only because we won its indiscernible games with arbitrary rules. On the whole, I would advise avoiding the remnants of the gods if you can – but if the Spider wasn't able to complete the spell on his own, securing their cooperation might be the only way to end the cycles without releasing the thing that they worked to imprison. \- Krue --- ## Page Tags/Properties **Tags:** #Journal **Category:** Journals and Writings **Character:** Krue **Campaign:** City of Eyes **Date (Harptos):** 04/14/1493
